Plyometrics – Tempo Push Ups
Tempo push ups focus on strength throughout the entire movement. Athletes should take about 2 seconds going down, 2 seconds going up and a 2 second hold at both the bottom and top of the movement. The “bottom” of the movement is when the athletes nose and chest are about 2″ off the ground. The “top” of the movement is when the athletes arms are straight and back is straight. Athletes should focus on:
- Maintain straight line from ankles to shoulders
- Do not drop to ground at bottom of movement
- Remember to breathe!!
- 2 seconds down, 2 seconds up and 2 second hold at top and bottom
