Plyometrics – Squat Jumps

Squat Jumps are an explosive movement that is a progression out of the Air Squats element. The beginningof the movement is exactly like the Air Squat, but from the bottom of the squat, the athlete should drive through their heels, drive hands to the ground and jump up in “Rocket” form. The athlete should land and drop straight into the next squat with arms returning to in front of chest and back still as vertical as possible. Athletes should focus on:

  • Keep chest up (don’t lean forward)
  • Drive Knees out (don’t “cave in”)
  • Drive through the heels
  • Hips below knees
  • Land straight into the next squat
