Plyometrics – Push Ups

Push ups are one of the most poorly executed elements out there. Good form is essential in getting the most out of the movement. Begin the pushup at the “top position” with shoulders fully engaged, arms out straight and body firm and in a straight line from ankle to shoulder. Athlete then drops to the “bottom position” with body still in a straight line and nose and chest touching the ground. Knees and thighs should remain off the ground. Immediately from the bottom position, return to the top position with arms completely extended and body still in a straight line. Athletes should focus on:

  • Body straight line from ankle to shoulder throughout movement
  • Arms extended at “Top Position”
  • Nose and chest touch ground at “Bottom of Movement”
  • Knees and Thighs off ground at “Bottom Position”
